STONE CONCEPT
Compilation of projects I created during my internship at a luxury stone wall company, where I combined artistic expression with practical design expertise.
Project Type :
Internship Documetation
Sector :
Luxury Stone Walls
Role :
Product Designer
Project Duration :
12 weeks

ABOUT :
Florence Stone Concepts works with art of stonework. They blend the timeless elegance and durability of natural stone with an architect's precision and an artisan's passion. Architect - led design in every detail to make custom walls for client's unique vision.

MY ROLE & IMPACT :
This project introduces a 3D abstract artwork centered on a coral-colored spiral form with smooth, flowing curves. Set against a soft pink gradient background, the design leverages organic geometry to create a sense of movement and depth.
The use of coral tones brings warmth and vibrancy, while the gentle gradient enhances the overall softness and modern appeal. This composition aims to capture attention while remaining elegant and balanced.

PROJECT BRIEF :
LIVING ROOM HIGHLIGHT WALL WITH FIREPLACE IN STONE ARTWORK
The first task was to conceptualize and design a sophisticated living room highlight wall in stone artwork. The design must incorporate a fireplace seamlessly into the aesthetic, balancing functionality and artistry.
The very first concept I came up with combined fire, water, and earth in one artwork but, rightly so, the idea was rejected for being too generic, especially in this field.

I didn't think outside the box enough
Brainstorming
I went on to explore more art styles like Scandinavian Folk Art, Chinese Chinoiserie, Mexican autonomy folk style, Japanese & Indian Folk Art, Tribal Geometry to decide what direction we must take. The goal was to come up with a concept where we could incorporate different aesthetics.
The initial sketches were once again to direct on themes.

I wasn't taking the proportions of a wall in account
The biggest feedback I received was that my sketches were limited by the small size of my sketchbook. When scaled up to a full wall, the designs would appear chunky and disproportionate.
IDEATIONS
After much back and forth about the amount of details, the shape of antlers which motifs to add we came up with the concept of woman who's hair transforms into antlers which hold the story of a folk village, each strand shows an aspect of human society's function

Execution

TWO FACE WALL ART
Learning outcome
I learned the importance of scaling and proportions, ensuring that concepts created on paper maintain their visual balance and elegance when executed on full-sized walls.
I developed a deeper appreciation for different types of stones and marbles, understanding their textures, finishes, and how material properties influence both design and manufacturability.
I also learned to design within manufacturing constraints, adapting creative ideas to fit technical feasibility, cost, and structural limitations.
