Vandana
A compilation of projects developed during my internship at a luxury gifting company, where I designed custom products that redefined traditional forms. Each concept was created to stand out in the market by blending cultural depth with contemporary aesthetics.
Project Type :
Internship Documentation
Sector :
Luxury Gifting
Role :
Product Designer
Project Duration :
12 weeks

ABOUT :
During the summer, I worked as a Product Design Intern at The Gift Concierge, completing a 12-week internship focused on developing end-to-end hero products for the festive season.
My primary project, Vandana, is a modern pooja thali (prayer tray) that embodies the sacred connection and cosmic balance present in everyday rituals. Throughout the project, I collaborated closely with the product design team and manufacturing vendors to translate the concept from ideation to final product.

MY ROLE & IMPACT :
As a product designer, I led the creation of hero products for their catalogue. My responsibilities included conceptualizing innovative designs from initial sketches to final execution, solving dimensional challenges through hundreds of iterations, and working with several materials to showcase luxury finishing.
I developed two market-ready products, both of which became major highlights of the Diwali gifting collection driving 150+ client orders across India, including several bulk purchases.

CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT :
CONTEXT :
Designed for a luxury audience, it is meant for those who appreciate modern aesthetics yet value cultural depth. It is ideal for individuals seeking something unique, meaningful, and refined whether for personal use or as a thoughtful gift that blends spirituality with contemporary design.

Ideation :
The ideation process focused on exploring abstract forms using minimal curves to develop distinctive silhouettes. The goal was creating shapes that appear interesting while being functional, ensuring the design could be effectively scaled and replicated across smaller product applications without compromising aesthetic or practical value.

The fun part
Finding the right dimensions turned out to be way harder than I expected. Extensive measurements of existing bowls and thali components revealed that ideal individual sizes often conflicted with tray compatibility. After what felt like hundreds of revisions, balancing component functionality with spatial constraints, we finally achieved dimensions that created perfect harmony between all elements.

HOW CAN WE MAKE AN UNCONVENTIONAL DESIGN FUNCTIONAL?

Project 02
WHAT IS IT?
An incense diffuser inspired by the image of a bird sipping nectar from a flower. Crafted in German silver, our goal was to make a centerpiece which also has some utility purpose to it.

people want beauty that speaks for itself
what i learned
I Thrive Within Constraints
While a blank slate offers freedom, I often found myself overwhelmed by endless possibilities. Working in this company taught me the value of boundaries and direction. Clear timelines, production limitations, and defined target audiences pushed me to think more practically, refine my ideas faster, and think from business perspective.
I Killed My Ego
It's not always about making the life changing product, many products that quietly improve everyday life hold equal value even if their impact seems smaller. Earlier, I clinged on the level of impact but quickly learned to create something that works, looks beautiful, and makes people feel something.
